What is the “Saturday Morning Breakfast Extravaganza”? This event is termed an “Extravaganza” because most teams are made up of sign-in participants each Saturday, and offers a fun and social time with family and friends.

We encourage people to bring their own team if possible (ideal for teams getting ready to go to bonspiels, etc.). So if you bring a team, you can play as a team. But if you drop in individually, you can then join a team, or the “Extravaganza” coordinators will form teams on the fly and your will be included. So both teams and individuals are highly welcome!

Both members and new curlers must sign-in online to reserve a spot. Only 32 curlers will be accommodated. Sign-up forms for a given Saturday are available 10 days in advance of that Saturday.

Here is your chance to give curling a try!

We welcome new curlers to come and give it a try on Saturday mornings from 8:00 to 12:00PM. Try to arrive by 8:00 AM so we can get you fitted with a pair of grippers, etc. Wear warm, loose fitted and layered clothes and clean flat soled shoes. Sneakers/tennis or athletic type trainers are necessary.

We will need a signed release form. You can download a copy or fill one out when you arrive at the curling center. The best part of the morning is when you decide (and I’m sure you will) that you like curling; you are more than welcome to stay and play in a league game for a nominal $20 donation. New curlers will be mixed with more experienced curlers. This provides further instruction opportunities (coaching, not screaming except for perhaps (“sweep hard”) and help avoid frustration on the first time out.

For the “Drop In” curlers, we will be following our priority procedures where everyone will be assured the opportunity to be able to play either all or part of the game. Members, and those who show up and sign in earliest, are given higher preference to play the most ends.

We encourage you to come with friends as a small group, with “small” being the operative word. We cannot accommodate a group of 8 or more. A group of 8 or more, you are talking about a rental.

Format:
7:30 AM – Door opens, begin sign-in, ice prep
8:00 – 9:00 AM – Instructional period
8:45 AM – Breakfast is served
9:00 – 9:30 AM Teams are formed, practice
9:30 – 12:00PM – Play 8-End game, off ice by 12:15 at the latest
