Facility Rentals

Demand for rentals has been exceedingly high this season, and we have exhausted all possible rental dates. Please check back next season.

Do you want to try curling with just your friends or office mates? The Potomac Curling Club rents its facilities at the National Capital Curling Center for group outings. The center is located next to The Gardens Ice House at 13810 Old Gunpowder Rd., Laurel, MD 20707. Click here for a detailed map courtesy of Google Maps.

We supply all necessary equipment and basic instruction.

A "typical" rental begins with 45 to 60 minutes of instruction covering safety, sweeping, stone delivery, scoring, a bit about curling courtesy and how to play the game. Your group then returns to the warm room to warm up, form teams, and then goes back out on the ice to actually play an abbreviated (four ends) game. Some groups bring beverages and a snack for broomstacking back in the warm room. Wear warm, loose fitting clothes and clean flat soled shoes. Sneakers are OK. A release will be needed, and it is available on our forms page or at the club.

Steps for Scheduling a Group Outing

1. Read the Potomac Curling club's Facility Rental Policy & Procedures (.pdf or .doc)

2. Determine the size of your outing and check out the prices*. Always round to the next higher group size. Groups of 24 or more have exclusive use of the ice and the warm room. Groups of 16 of fewer will have use of two sheets of ice, with the remaining two available for other groups.

3. Pick out a date. For daytime rentals on weekdays, please contact the scheduler. For weekend rentals, select from this table, then contact the scheduler (rental {at} curldc.org).

4. Fill out a copy of the Rental Application (.pdf or .doc) and mail it, along with your deposit to the Potomac Curling Club. Any amount over $100 will be refunded if 30 days notice is given for cancellation. Our mailing address is:

5. Confirm your reservation with a deposit. The deposit may be mailed along with the rental application, or it can be placed on a credit card.

PayPal accepts credit cards on our behalf. No paypal account is necessary.
For groups of 8 or 16 we request a $100 deposit
For groups of 24 or 32 we request a $200 deposit
For groups of 40 or 48 we request a $300 deposit
The Balance Due is a variable payment. Simply subtract the deposit from the total due, enter that amount, and pay via credit card.
